Redcliffs School was badly damaged in the Christchurch Earthquakes. Potential danger posed by the cliffs behind the school prevented the staff and students from returning.
Nine years later they have fought hard for their survival and are proud to reopen at their new waterfront campus.
Switched On Building Solutions is an approved Decortech installer and worked with Hush Interiors to provide an interiors package for the Redcliffs School refurbishment.
Switched On Building Solutions supplied and installed all Décortech, plywood linings and Seratone, while Hush Interiors supplied and installed all suspended ceilings, grids, tiles along with associated works.
Acoustic and fire-resistant panelling was a requirement for this busy school and Décortech was the perfect solution. We installed panelling to walls and ceilings around the school with the foyer being a stand-out feature.
This space required a seamless transition from the wall to the ceiling which meant accurate alignment to the millimetre was crucial. As perforated Décortech panels are pre-cut in the factory and cannot be altered, this project required extreme attention to detail and precision.
To ensure this was executed perfectly we worked closely with the Architect and Décortech themselves to design panels that suited site variances, penetrations, and the general aesthetic of the interior.
To offer a complete package we fitted all of the standard plywood linings in various areas, with each panel being cut to size on-site to ensure the grain flowed in the same direction.
Our team also installed Seratone splash backs to the kitchen areas and assisted the Main Contractor site team with other finishing carpentry elements such as reveals, skirtings, feature bricks and decorative elements.
We thoroughly enjoyed working with SOBS team who went above and beyond for this project. It was evident the team had invested themselves in the project and were committed to delivering top quality results. The eye for detail that the install team had was second to none.
